About Mt. Arlington
History, Bertrand Island, and Yacht Club
Living Mount Arlington is located in Morris County and sits on the East side of Lake Hopatcong. Most of Mount Arlington is residential and the shoreline is privately owned homeowners. Its probably most known for it historical ties to Bertrand Island. In its day, Bertrand Island was a main attraction for its 20 rides, rollercoaster and boardwalk games. Locals love to talk about its history and many remember childhood times here. It now is home to condominiums known as Lakeshore Village. It is not actually an island, but a peninsula. You’ll also find the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club Inc, open to the public for some events but this is a joined membership only. Every year for the Forth of July, The Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club puts on a better then the last, fireworks display. Boaters from all around anchor to watch, and any where visible by land. Fireworks night is a big deal around here and will be one not to miss.
Mt.Arlington is on the Main part of the lake. Depths can reach up to 42 feet deep and boats do travel fast on the main lake.
Marina and On-the-go eats
If you want to launch off into Lake Hopatcong from Mt Arlington, Lee’s Park offers 3 boat launches. Open Spring to Fall daily. While you’re there stop by Andy’s Roadside Dive. Its a little dirty water dog place but has lots of toppings you cant resist.
Barnes Brothers is the only place in Mt Arlington to gas up on the water. They are a full service marina and offer boat slips as well.
About Landing
History and Lake Hopatcong Foundation
Living Landing is located at southern tip of Lake Hopatcong and is in Morris County. It can be shallow and narrow part of the lake so maneuver carefully. In Landings history, the train station from Manhattan stopped here. This was mostly where out-of-townees got their first view of the lake. The old train station is still there and being renovated to the new Lake Hopatcong Foundation.
Marina and Fishing
Lakes End Marina, offers fishing supplies and boat rentals, as well as gas.
Beaches
Borough Beach in Mt Arlington and Short Hills in Landing are members only to residents of those towns.
Mt. Arlington & Landing off the Lake
Though the Lake is a major draw to Mt Arlington and Landing, they have much more to offer. Weekly events, daytime activities and night life, hiking trail, easy access to major highways, employment opportunities, small and large businesses and lots of history.
Residents & Visitors
Most of Hopatcong’s residents own there homes and live here year round. The warmer months attract more visitors and AirBNB are always an option if you’re planning to just visit. Furthermore, if you’ll looking to have a second home or thinking about moving to Mt Arlington or Landing, you’ll probably not want to leave.
